Ok ladies and gents!
Been on the phone to Doodle! And we're looking at having lots of fun! Bus to Dublin, Starting in Cork, travelling to Limerick, where we'll be picked up, then on to Dublin for the protest. After the Protest, We'll be heading straight to CORK! Where there's a show organised for Instinct! After which we'll be getting on the bus, and heading back to Limerick..
All in, we're looking at about €20 per person, and we'll have t-shirts and a packed lunch! :D
So, let me know in the poll, do you want to do this, or will we get our own bus??

Love it Sunflower!!
Ok, The poll above is showing us an interesting trend.... so far 3 people want to go to instinct after, and 5 want to travel with cork, but come back to Limerick afterwards.... The consensus is to travel together....
Personally, I want to head to Cork, and am considering staying over the night after Instinct..... Considering Driving to Cork for Make and Doodle, and then travelling the whole way on the bus... so I'll be able to drive home on monday....
Who's in?

It's my quarter-century birthday that night :)
I should mention though, it is a dry event, as there are NO Alcohol alternative events in the city. It's also 15 euro in, all proceeds go towards the Keeping-Doodle-Dandee-in-the-country-as-she-mightn't-exactly-be-here-legally Fund...
BUT there will be board games, DVDs, Wii Games, snacks, drag makeovers, tarot card readings, and maybe even a performance or two by Doodle!

Cork -> Limerick -> Dublin -> Cork (for the party in Instinct) -> Limerick
Lads, It's going to be a great trip, the bus up with the Cork people will be GREAT! We'll have so much fun! And we'll go back to Instinct to party down with the Corkonians, before getting the bus back to Limerick!
Cost is €20, including a packed lunch and a cool t-shirt!
Fantastic Value for a fantastic trip!!

No, the poll is not being ignored, However the plan that has been put forward it to travel with Cork, and head back with them. The poll is to gague interest in varying methods of travel....

I won't be going back down to cork, wouldn't mind travelling up with you, but not back down to cork, and not limerick, cork, dublin either...sorry lads, but its a long and tiring enough day as it is.
if the bus is going limerick, cork, dublin, cork...then i'm afraid i'm out
if the bus is going cork, limerick, dublin, cork...then I'm out
if however, it happens to head cork limerick dublin limerick cork...then i'd be okay to join in...
let us know.

I'll need to thrash it out more with Sunflower, but the current plan is Cork-> Limerick-> Dublin-> Cork-> Limerick. I am enquiring into other arrangements and formats, including travelling to Cork on th 8th and leaving my car, coming from cork on the bus, and then driving myself and 4 others back after instinct if Limerick wants to bus back.
all suggestions are welcome Either here or by PM, this is a community event, and a community activity. I would love to hear from anyone who has a suggestion/wants to assist in the organisation of the Limerick side.....

Trip TO Dublin
Outgoing Trip (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Sullivan%27s+Quay,+Cork,+Ireland&daddr=Sarsfield+St,+Limerick,+County+Limerick,+Rep ublic+of+Ireland+to:Parnell+St,+Dublin&hl=en&geocode=%3BFUeYIwMdYlh8_w%3B&mra=ls&sll=52.62306,-7.498169&sspn=2.364302,4.938354&ie=UTF8&z=8)
The Trip FROM Dublin was meant to go directly to Cork, but if it doesn't impact too much on the schedule, I suppose we could make a stop in Limerick first:
Return Trip (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Parnell+St,+Dublin&daddr=Sarsfield+St,+Limerick,+County+Limerick,+Rep ublic+of+Ireland+to:Sullivan%27s+Quay,+Cork,+Irela nd&hl=en&geocode=%3BFUeYIwMdYlh8_w%3B&mra=ls&sll=52.626395,-7.498169&sspn=2.364122,4.938354&ie=UTF8&ll=52.62306,-7.498169&spn=2.364302,4.938354&z=8)
The bus would then continue on to Cork, and make a return trip around midnight for those who want to join us for the after celebration. I'm reluctant to guarantee the return trip back through Limerick without speaking to the other person organising this, and the bus group, but I'll let you know as soon as I weigh the options.
heysexy
14th July 2009, 06:05 PM
hey hey.
I think to cater for every1 the best idea is to on the way back to stop in Limerick and drop every1 off (who not going to cork after) at the same stop so as not to lengthen the journey to Cork after. (that is if the Corkonians don't mind stopping???)
I know approx 15 people who will come to Dublin from LImerick but not to Cork afterwards (unfortunately).
ok sexys, slan slan.

well we don't want people with such poor judgement in Cork anyway :p
i have to confirm with the bus driver that there isn't an extra cost for this. it's slightly longer for the Corkonians (who are organising the bus et all), but so long as there isn't an extra charge, i don't see the harm.

I'm still working on them Sunflower.... :( I for one am deffo hitting Cork after! :D Love partying with that mad crowd, and the show in Instinct sounds like it has a fantastic lineup!
I love Sunflowers gay triangle idea! So love it! Travelling with Cork would be so much fun, and a chance to meet some lovely new people!

would love to go to instinct in cork, but funds are low so dublin limerick be perfect for me.
fada
15th July 2009, 12:34 AM
I think many people have tight funds at the moment... Sunflower dear, I'll call you in the morning to see about it... lol.
Is it going to be feasable for ye to run the bus to Limerick? or will we just organise a bus amoungst ourselves.
Personal opinion = travel with Cork
Personal preference = travel with Cork and hit Instinct!
SunFlower
15th July 2009, 02:10 AM
by all means, if you have a cheaper way of getting up to dublin, do.
the point of the bus was a) its more cost effective, for us Corkonians, and b) its nice to establish a bit of unity from us down South.
between ye and the GayCork.com crowd, i'm getting really disillusioned and not sure why i bother. [/rant]
(sunflower's irritable. don't mind me)

it would be great to all travel up together - could get to put names to faces - but if it means spending ages extra on a bus then I will just get a normal bus up. Im all for community cohesion, but as a tall person buses are super uncomfortable and i would probably just end up getting cranky.
So.....bus from Limerick (not via Cork) to Dublin and back = yes
bus via Cork = sorry no

Well if you want to head up via public transport that's cool.
But I think from what I read it was always gonna be Limerick straight to Dublin. I think it was the Cork group that were taking the longer journey so the Limerick people weren't put out...
