Hope to be going up myself, if only for the parade. Dublin pride is a great buzz.

If anyone is goin up and planning to march, why not show your Limerick pride an march with us in dublin?

Not that hard to find, we will marching behind this banner:

poor Sharon was nearly hit by a bus! gonnw have that sorted for next year...

Yes havin ye down from Limerick was GREAT fun, and definitely made a huge impact on the weekend! Won't be at Dublin myself, but I think there are a good few people heading up. At this late in the game, I'd say any accomodation is good accomodation ;)

the Paramount Hotel is just upstairs from the Front Lounge....VERY cheap, clean, nice, and smoking in the rooms. If there's any vacancy, that's where I'd stay!

...Or just go to the Boiler House, 25 euro, and sure theres loads of places you can go to doze off :o

Basically driving up doing the parade, the afterparty, quick visit to pantibar and then home.

Love dublin pride, it was the 1st pride i ever went to and i always have the best of fun.

Oh an i shall be marching behing the Limerick Pride banner :D

shit we cant go now, her majesty doesnt approve lol :D

from my previous experiences at dublin pride breannoh, the dragon is a good place to be after the parade, not sleazy, cheap enough drink(well for dublin anyway) and usually has a good crowd, its like the george without the sleaze and blahness:cool:

fada
25th June 2009, 02:09 AM
Was in the Dragon once... didn't like it... ugh... I REFUSE to go to the George, I was there once, and HATED it! it's a cesspot of disease, debauchery, sleeze, etc etc, never mind the covercharge, and the rip-off drink... and the evil bouncers! They made me use a plastic glass! A PLASTIC GLASS I TELL YOU!!!!!

I like Panti's place, it's just a nice bar, with a drag queen behind it....

StarBoi
25th June 2009, 02:11 AM
true usually anything with a queen behind it puts on a good show and the one and only panti is amazing :D

fada
25th June 2009, 02:20 AM
Honey, it's not that fact... but the sheer fact that it's a nice clean classy bar, with comfie furniture, friendly staff, and isn't too dear (by dublin standards) I just like the place, it's homely

OH WOW!
What an experience! Well done to the organisers, parade was really great! Loved the endurance aspect!!! We should have gone into training to do that one! The sun shone, Sheila and Madge were radiant in Pink, Sharon was priceless! and kept us entertained, along with Aby and her bloomin whistle!

Dissappointed we didn't get into the park... but reports say there were 12,000 people there... Yes TWELVE THOUSAND PEOPLE!!! The craic we had in Pantibar after the parade nearly made up for missing the queens speech!

And Lads.... You're all lucky... I got a call at 5am that she was doing makeup!!

But thank you all so much for making my first Dublin Pride a day to remember!!!

Oh wow, did we ever have a fantablis pride in Dublin, we arrived late and got our room upgraded to an exec (thanks to rainbow retreats and sheila's deals for that), had room service, got up early, ate loads, went to outhouse, and met some really, really awesome people, love the place and will be going back.

We arrived at the parade launch site and had an amazing time meeting up with old friends and new, managed to slide in behind MyLGBT and OUT in UL so there was quite a few with us. It was fablis weather and the trek through Dublin was just amazing, who could forget the flags along the Liffy...

We just about made it to the end, feet sore, and spirits high we tried to get into the park and couldn't so a huge bunch of us headed for Panti bar and boy did we ever have a wonderful time, great music, great crac and great pics that I'll be putting up online tomorrow.

We headed for sommit to eat around 6 and enjoyed an eddie rockets, then went back to the burlo and slept waking around 11 and getting more room service, some ice cold drinks and a lovely soak in a bathtub. We slept through till around 10 and got up for breakfast, did a little walking and shopping and came home. The weekend was brillant and thanks again to all who came along and supported Limerick @ Dublin Pride. We love ye.:D

Interesting Fact.... I've marched with Aby on every single Pride I've ever been on! lol

I was up marching with the Noise crowd, had a great day, next year I'll be recommending they have water stops along the route, we were all dehydrated by the end and they need a bigger venue than Wood Quay for the after gathering, the gates were closed with hundreds outside baying to get in.

fada
1st July 2009, 02:21 AM
Agreed on the Wood Quay point! I was one of those who couldn't get in.... :(

I was smart enough to bring my own water! lol

Evil Steve
1st July 2009, 02:46 AM
They were taking ALL liquids from people entering the park, my Dublin friends were MOST unimpressed about the lack of water in the park.

I came home from Amsterdam just for the parade for the weekend - my 1st Dublin Pride since 2001 (my 1st ever Pride was also in Dublin in 1997 when I was a baby gay). I was so impressed with the numbers who showed up this year. Next year they need a new venue for afterparty - the grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art is bigger so more people can see. Not pleased with lack of water though. It was too damned hot.

Roll on August 1st - Amsterdam Canal Pride. Apparently I have to do an interview with Taiwanese TV about it. I don't know exactly why but my Taiwanese colleague asked if I would. I said 'OK' thinking i'd get asked a couple of questions. But apparently it means I now get to travel on the press boat. The glamour.
